The "Singin' Grandpas," a local quartet made up of seniors, spread holiday cheer Thursday at Sharp Memorial Hospital in Kearny Mesa.
The group performed Christmas carols in the lobby and for the rehabilitation ward for those recovering from surgery.
The group said music therapy is an excellent way to heal and even slows down the aging process.
“There are so many studies out there that show people that involve themselves in music live longer,” said Denny Howe, a member of the Singin’ Grandpas. "Two of the guys who were original members of this group, one lived to be 97 years old and the other lived to be 96 years old."
The group consists of men and women and performs around San Diego year round.
