For the first time since joining the American Hockey League the San Diego Gulls will not be playing playoff hockey.
Needing just one point in their last three games to punch their post-season ticket, the Gulls dropped three straight to the Tucson Roadrunners. Their season officially ended with a 6-3 loss in Arizona on Saturday night.
The San Jose Barracuda take the 4th and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division.
Kalle Kossila scored a pair of goals to finish as the Gulls’ leading scorer with 53 points. But Tucson, who finished with the best record in the Western Conference, showed its depth with five different players finding the net.
