One person was hurt in a home invasion robbery in Clairemont Friday, San Diego police confirmed.
The SDPD said the robbery happened at around 11:50 a.m. at a home along Ashford Street, near Lindbergh Neighborhood Park.
Police said a 58-year-old man was inside the home at the time of the robbery and was badly injured.
The man called his son to tell him the house had been robbed; the son called 911 and rushed home to check on his father. When the man's son got to the house, police said he found his father suffering from trauma to his upper body.
The victim was not breathing when officers arrived at the scene. He was taken to an area hospital. As of Friday evening, the victim was being treated in an intensive care unit, police said. Specifics on his injuries were not released.
Neighbors told NBC 7 the victim owns Rose Donuts, a popular doughnut shop with locations in San Diego's Morena and Linda Vista communities.
Garrett Holman, who works next door to one of the shops, said he knew right away something bad happened when he saw the employees rush out of the doughnut shop.

"Usually if the doughnuts run out they do leave, but I didn't see the doughnuts run out. I did see the doughnuts out and were left there. So we were all wondering about them," Holman said.
Meanwhile, following the home invasion robbery, officers swarmed the neighborhood and focused their attention on securing the victim's home. Just before 12:15 p.m., police said the scene was safe. They did not have a suspect in custody, nor did they have a description of the suspect.
Officers shut down traffic along Ashford Street, between Mustang Drive and Hatton Street, so investigators could start collecting and preserving evidence. They advised motorists to stay away from the area, for now. Eckstrom Avenue was also closed.
Parts of the nearby park were cordoned by police. Officers could be seen talking with witnesses in the area.
A safe was taken from the home, according to investigators, but they did not say what was inside.
NBC 7 spoke to a neighbor who did not want to be identified. She said another resident told her they heard a loud noise, then saw a person run out of the home, get into a car and speed off. The neighbor saw the victim being taken away from the home in an ambulance.
As of Saturday morning, Rose Donuts remained closed with a sign posted to the front door that read: "Closed indefinitely until further notice. Thank you for understanding."
