Five sailors were hospitalized early Friday following a crash during a routine training operation near Point Loma, the U.S. Navy said.
Emergency personnel received a call from the U.S. Navy reporting a crash involving a watercraft shortly before 2 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD). According to SDFD, the caller requested first responders to 140 Sylvester Rd.

A U.S. Navy spokesperson said the sailors hit the Zuniga Point Jetty while entering the San Diego Bay. It is unclear what caused the impact or what type of vessel they were in.

The sailors who were hurt in the incident were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest. The extent of their injuries were described as non-life threatening and are all now in stable condition. Three have since been released, the Navy said.
The investigation is ongoing.
