Two San Diego police officers and two civilians were injured Saturday when a car crashed into a police vehicle with lights and siren while responding to a call.

The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Midway Drive and Barnett Avenue near Liberty Station, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The police officers were westbound on Barnett Avenue en route to a call when they stopped at the red light to make sure the intersection was clear before going through, police officials said.

A 27-year-old woman driving a 2024 Honda Accord southbound in the left turn lane on Midway allegedly moved into the intersection and collided with the police vehicle, police said. She suffered a fractured femur and her passenger suffered an orbital fracture, while the officers suffered minor cuts and abrasions.

Investigators allege the Honda driver was impaired, which was a factor in the crash. No arrests were immediately made.

The intersection at Midway and Barnett was temporarily closed for several hours due to a cleanup and inspection.
