12-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Raises Money Through Go Karts in Chula Vista

At the age of six, Parker was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma

An inspiring boy from Lakeside is teaming up with a TV show host to raise money for charity in a fun and fast-paced way.

Friday, Parker Shaw, 12, met with Dave Akin, the host of ToyMakerz on the History Channel. They were at Speed Circuit, an indoor go kart race track Chula Vista. The goal: to fundraise for families battling cancer.

At the age of six, Parker was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. After chemotherapy and radiation treatments, he has now been in remission for five years.

Team Parker 4 Life helps families with children diagnosed with cancer pay for their bills, whether it be medical, groceries, or other expenses.

Friday, dozens of kids raced around the tracks while Akin signed autographs. All profits will go to Team Parker 4 Life.

Akin also expressed to the children the importance of staying safe on the road. He said texting and driving is a deadly mistake.
