"Let the rumpus begin!" This weekend is so jam-packed with events that I can hardly contain my enthusiasm to chuck my laptop and enjoy all the fun stuff going on. Tonight kicks off the Gator By The Bay festival with some social club dances, and Old Town kicks into high gear for Cinco de Mayo (despite the actual day being yesterday). Violent Femmes are sold out at Humphreys, which makes it a great night to find a canoe or dinghy, and "Saturday Night Live" comedian Jim Breuer is at the Observatory. Personally, the most exciting show for me is at the Casbah with Beach Slang (read the SoundDiego interview with the band here). I've been digging their vibe for a while and it will be great to see them on a Friday when I know I have not a single Saturday morning responsibility.
