Where to see fireworks in San Diego

Thousands of San Diegans will gather on Fourth of July to celebrate and may even pull out the lawn chair for some fireworks in the sky.

Anywhere from bayside, downtown to the beaches  - there are more than a few opportunities to see some of the best firework shows in San Diego County.

Big Bay Boom
San Diego waterfront, 9 p.m.

San Diego’s largest fireworks show is bound to draw crowds since it can be viewed from multiple locations. Pick a spot near Seaport Village, Coronado Ferry Landing, Spanish Landing, Embarcadero Marina Parks North and South, Cesar Chavez Park, Coronado Tidelands Park, Imperial Beach Pier, Shelter Island or Harbor Island and prepare to be dazzled.

Camp Pendelton Beach Bash
Del Mar Beach Resort, 9 p.m.

Come have a sand-sational time at the 2012 Ken Grody Ford Beach Bash at the Del Mar Beach Resort. The MCCS want to get in step with you and celebrate with a tribute to heroes, videos, live bands, exciting kids’ activities, outrageous fireworks and drawings for the Ken Grody Ford Cash Prizes.

Coronado Independence Day Celebration
Coronado Island, 9 p.m.

Wake up early to get on the island to find a good spot for the extravaganza fireworks over Glorietta Bay. Wake up early to beat the traffic, as parking has been difficult in the past.

Del Mar San Diego County Fair
Del Mar Fairgrounds, 9 p.m.

Come enjoy the rumbling sensation as the Del Mar fairgrounds will put on a big spectacular display of fireworks visible all throughout the fairground. 

El Cajon Fireworks
Kennedy Park in El Cajon, 9  p.m.

Come enjoy the visual and stunning fireworks display at Kenned Park in El Cajon.

Sea World presents “Fireworks into the blue”
Sea World, 9:30 p.m.

It’s time to go under the water and beneath the waves to experience Shamu’s SkySplash USA as he helps the fireworks light up the night at Sea World. Make sure to plan ahead and arrive early to beat the patriotic crowd.

Fallbrook Fireworks display
The Grand Tradition, 8:45 p.m.

The Annual July 4 Fallbrook Beautification Alliance fundraiser will bring hundreds of locals to enjoy food, entertainment and fireworks in the heart of Fallbrook.

Imperial Beach Booms the Night
Imperial Beach Pier, 9 p.m.

Kick of your night with checking out one of the best views that is part of The Big Bay Boom Fireworks Show in Imperial Beach.

La Jolla’s Burst of Fireworks
La Jolla Bay, 9 p.m.

With lots of noise and a dazzling display of colors, La Jolla Bay will be entertaining thousands of people to view the spectacular show of fireworks at Ellen Browning Scripps Park and La Jolla Cove. 

Mira Mesa’s Many Activities

Mira Mesa Community Park, 9 p.m.

Check out another one of the best July 4 events in San Diego. The annual Mira Mesa Fourth of July event will include many activities that include a parade, food, rides, games and a nightly firework display showing at Mira Mesa High School. Bring the whole family and come enjoy the fun.

National City Sparkles with Fireworks
Kimball Park, 9 p.m.

Although a simple sparkler can be just as entertaining, you can’t beat the sound and size of the massive fireworks at Kimball Park.

Ocean Beach Fills the Sky
Ocean Beach Pier, 9 p.m.

Come early and sail into the sunset as the pier will be closed early to the public stating at 7 p.m. Go with the flow and bring your blanket to sit back and enjoy the fireworks as they fill the sky in Ocean Beach.

Old Town Historic Style Celebration
Old Town State Historic Park, 9 p.m.

Another great location to enjoy some old fashioned fun is Old Town in San Diego. The celebration will include a parade, crafts, pie eating contest and wagon rides. Just around the corner you can watch the fireworks from the San Diego Bay.

Poway Pride Celebration
Old Poway Park, 9 p.m.

It’s that time to glow at Poway High School. Poway high will be holding a fundraiser on the fourth of July by selling admission tickets, food, and glow necklaces as fireworks spark in the sky at Old Poway Park.

Temecula’s Family Fun Day
Ronald Reagan Park, 9 p.m.

The City of Temecula’s Fourth of July Extravaganza will kick off at 2 p.m. at Ronald Reagan Sports Park with food, music and family activities. This will be a family fun time and will have many people in “Ah” because of their spectacular explosion of fireworks.

Rancho Bernardo Festivities
Rancho Bernardo Heights Middle School Athletic Field, 9 p.m.

Display your patriotic spirit and come and enjoy the old fashioned festival in Rancho Bernardo. The festival will include music, food, games, parade and lavish fireworks.

San Marcos Fourth of July Entertainment
Bradley Park, 9 p.m.

North county San Diego will be celebrating the Fourth of July by entertaining with carnival games, evening entertainment and the display of fireworks in Bradley Park. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or lawn chair for lawn seating.

Santee’s Fourth of July Celebration
Town Center Community Park, 9  p.m.

A great San Diego family activity for the Fourth of July will be going on in east county San Diego at the Town Center Community Park. Come with an empty stomach and energy for there will be plenty of food and live entertainment for everyone.

Make sure to arrive early to any of the firework shows with your picnic baskets, lawn chairs and patriotic spirits.
