If '90s alt-rock is your thing, boy, has your day has just been made: Bush and Live -- two of the era's biggest juggernauts -- have finally added a San Diego date to their co-headlining expansive 2019 North American tour.
Tickets for show -- just announced for Thursday, Oct. 10, at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre -- go on sale to the general public on Friday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. PST. Check livenation.com for pre-sale information.
If you weren't aware, 1994 was a banner year for rock & roll: Soundgarden dropped "Superunknown," Nine Inch Nails released "The Downward Spiral," Weezer debuted on their blue album, Pearl Jam rocked with "Vitalogy," and Green Day unveiled "Dookie" -- and that's just the tip of the iceberg.
In even further evidence of the stunning slate of music unleashed that year, 2019 also marks the 25th anniversary of Bush's debut full-length "Sixteen Stone" and Live's sophomore smash record "Throwing Copper" -- two signature, chart-topping albums, both respectively released in 1994.
However, in March, when the pair announced a huge joint tour in commemoration of the quarticentennial event, San Diego was curiously absent on the itinerary. With Monday's news, fans can rest easy -- they're indeed on their way.
Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk gushed about the tour in a statement earlier this year.
“Having had both our bands’ respective breakthrough albums released in 1994, there’s a kind of kinship there in our collective experience that I think is really cool and unique,” he said. “I had a chance to reconnect with Gavin and Bush at a show we recently played together in Mexico, and I was blown away by their performance. As we watched Bush from the side of the stage, I leaned over to Chad Taylor [Live's guitarist] and yelled in his ear, ‘This summer is gonna f---in’ rock!'”
“We are thrilled to be touring this summer with Live,” said Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. “The wealth and depth of songs from both bands should provide a great night of music. Looking forward to seeing you all this summer … Sixteen Stone propelled us onto the musical landscape. Those songs have found a way into the soundtrack of people’s lives and that is the highest compliment available. We’ve continued to make music that resonates with people.”
