Now that the weather is warming up in San Diego, it’s time to enjoy a movie outside.
There are plenty of places to catch a flick under the summer sky. Here’s a list of spots you don’t want to miss!
Cinema Under the Stars
4040 Goldfinch St., Mission Hills
Classic flicks such as “Casablanca” and “Funny Face” are playing this summer at this Mission Hills theater. Movies typically play on weekends.
Full Moon Drive In
1500 Felspar St., Pacific Beach
The parking lot of PB Middle School comes alive on weekends when recently released movies are shown in this classically styled drive-in. Tickets for adults are usually $8 and $4 admission for kids.
Hotel Lafayette
2223 El Cajon Blvd., North Park
The Dive-in movie series at this hip hotel has a few more dates left on May 24 and 31. The family-friendly movies are perfect for the whole family.
The Pearl Hotel
1410 Rosecrans St., Point Loma
Sidle up to the pool at the Pearl Hotel on Wednesdays, where you can buy craft cocktails and tasty grub while watching cool movies like “Almost Famous.”
Santee Drive-In
10990 Woodside Ave., Santee
Roll your car over to East County for a sweet drive-in near Shadow Hills Park. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for kids.
Stone Brewing Co.
1999 Citracado Parkway, Escondido
Every Wednesday night from June 5 to Aug. 28, the Stone Brewing Co. World Bistro & Gardens hosts a movie night on its 12-foot screen. Movie times are usually 8 or 8:30 p.m. but make sure to get there early as the gardens always fill up.
South Bay Drive-In
2 170 Coronado Ave., Nestor
This might be the best deal for filmgoers, as tickets range from $1 for kids to $7 for adults for two movies. Considering what regular movie theaters cost these days, that’s not bad for a double feature!
Summer Movies in the Park
various locations
Dozens of parks in San Diego are hosting movies from now until mid-September. Parents will be able to entertain the little ones with showings of “Wreck it Ralph” and “The Sandlot.”
