Sheena Parveen – Meteorologist

Sheena Parveen is the weekday morning meteorologist for NBC 7 News Today and NBC 7 News Midday.

In Sheena’s career, she’s forecasted and covered everything from hurricanes to tornadoes to blizzards. Some of the most memorable weather events Sheena covered was Hurricane Sandy making landfall at the Jersey Shore, the blizzard of 2016 that demanded round the clock coverage for multiple days and when she was sent to cover the 2013 EF5 tornado that devastating an elementary school in Moore, Oklahoma.

Parveen started her on-air meteorology career at WCTV in Tallahassee right out of college, then moved on to be the meteorologist for Fox13 in Tampa. After having spent her entire life in the sunshine state of Florida, she wanted a change. In 2012 Sheena moved north to NBC10 in Philadelphia as their weekday evening meteorologist where she stayed for the next 5 years. Being an avid lover of water hobbies that weren’t easy to come by in Philadelphia she ordered a paddleboard from San Diego and had it shipped across the country which she considers the “best decision ever.” After those five years, Sheena decided to head to NBC4 in Washington, DC where she quickly learned how to adjust to a morning schedule before coming to San Diego.

Sheena received her bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Florida State University. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, having received her CBM seal from the American Meteorological Society.

Shelter animals are near and dear to Sheena’s heart, as are all animals. Both of her dogs are rescues, one from Georgia and the other a rescue from Africa.
