Nichelle Medina anchors NBC 7 Weekend News at 7am. She joined the team in June 2024 and has received numerous awards for her anchoring and reporting in America’s Finest City.

Nichelle joined NBC 7 after spending 5 years as a CBS News Correspondent based in the network’s Los Angeles bureau. During that time, Nichelle covered major stories for both local stations and national broadcasts. She also anchored weekend shows for the CBS O&O, KCAL News.

Before her time with the network, Nichelle spent nearly 18 years as an anchor here in San Diego at CBS 8. Previously, she spent time as an anchor at KGPE-TV in Fresno, California. Nichelle also worked as a reporter/anchor for the NBC affiliate in Laredo, Texas.

Nichelle is especially proud of her work with the San Diego military community.  Over the years, she has been recognized for her military reporting and as a military spouse (her husband is a Colonel).

When she isn’t working, Nichelle loves to spend her free time with her family and two dogs.
