Darnay Tripp is the Sports Anchor/Reporter for NBC 7’s weekday evening newscasts and joins the team on NBC 7 SportsWrap Sundays.
Before moving to San Diego, Tripp was the Sports Director at KREM 2 in Spokane, Washington. There he managed the overall coverage and strategic direction for their sports team while producing, shooting, editing, writing and anchoring.
In 2018, Tripp won an Edward R. Murrow Award for Sports Reporting: ‘Zag Climber Revenge’. Some highlights of Tripp’s coverage have been six NCAA tournaments and covering the Seattle Seahawks during multiple NFL Playoff games and two Super Bowls. He also followed Washington State to San Diego for back-to-back Holiday Bowl appearances.
He is a Philadelphia native who studied Journalism at Towson University in Baltimore. When he's not working Darnay loves checking out San Diego’s great restaurants with his fiancé Laura. He also enjoys playing bad golf and slightly better pickup basketball.
