Amber Frias is a passionate Southern California native dedicated to sharing impactful stories within her community.
Her journey with NBC began in 2017, initially behind the scenes as a newscast director, where she mastered the technical aspects of running a news program. However, her true passion always resided in storytelling. In 2019, she embarked on her reporting career with NBC/Telemundo Bakersfield.
During her two-year tenure at the station, Amber tackled a diverse range of local issues, including crime and agriculture. It was where she also made her anchoring debut for both NBC and Telemundo Bakersfield.
In 2020, Amber relocated to San Diego, where she currently serves as a bilingual reporter and fill-in anchor for NBC 7 and Telemundo 20. She takes pride in reporting on critical social issues that impact some of the most vulnerable populations, including homelessness, mental health, and addiction. You can catch her compelling reports on weekdays and evenings.
Amber Frias earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism with a minor in Spanish from Cal Poly Pomona. As a native of Orange County, she cherishes the opportunity to be near her family. In her free time, Amber enjoys creating precious memories with loved ones and exploring new places.
