There are 13 shopping days until Mother’s Day and a new study suggests you’re going to spend more than $3.99 for a card with a big rose on it.
Consumers are expected to spend more this year on a gift for Mom - $152.52 on average according to a survey conducted by BigInsight on behalf of retail industry trade group, the National Retail Federation.
CNBC reports spending for the holiday will be up about 8 percent from $140.73 last year.
Total spending should reach $18.6 billion.
What could cost that much? The study shows some of the most popular items are special meals, clothing and, of course, flowers.
Thinking of buying Mom something high-tech? You’ll be in the minority. Brand Keys surveyed 5,000 men and women and found fewer plan to give electronics. Traditional appears to be on most consumers’ minds.
