LaDainian Tomlinson had a little extra motivation in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday. Just before the game, the Chargers star found out he's about to become a dad.
Tomlinson found a box in his locker when he arrived at Qualcomm Stadium. When he opened it, he found a positive pregnancy test from his wife Torsha.
After the game, which was arguably Tomlinson's best performance of the year, Tomlinson shared the good news about his growing family with reporters. "She left me a gift in my locker that said 'open immediately' and I thought it was going to be a necklace or something and it was a pregnancy test," he said. "It was pretty special."
Did it add something to his game? You bet. "The special thing about having a child and your wife being pregnant - it just does something to you. It's extra motivation. I can't explain it, but it definitely did," he said.
Tomlinson joked that he needs to keep up with his brother who has three kids and is expecting a fourth. "I haven't talked to my mom yet," he said just after the game. "But my brother has three kids and one on the way and he's younger than me so I have some work to do."
This is especially good news since the Tomlinsons' had been expecting a few years ago but the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage.
"God works in mysterious ways and it's a blessing that we are pregnant again," Tomlinson said.
