A 33-year-old woman was found dead inside an Imperial Beach apartment Saturday, investigators confirmed.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a call for help from a home in the 200 block of Dahlia Avenue just before 1 p.m.
When deputies got to the scene, they discovered a deceased woman inside the residence. Officials later identified the woman as Corrina West.
Investigators said West’s father had come by the apartment to visit his daughter and found her body inside the home. He then called deputies for help.
Deputies found signs of trauma to West and homicide investigators were called to the scene.
Dahlia Avenue was temporarily closed from 2nd to 3rd Street as officials investigated on Saturday.
Officials are trying to determine whether the trauma was caused by an accident due to a medical condition or if it was caused by foul play.
Specifics about the signs of trauma have not been released, but deputies did confirm there were no gunshot wounds or stab wounds, and said West did have a pre-existing medical condition that could be related to her death.
"There was some report of a medical history, so at this point, the Homicide Unit was called in to continue the investigation to determine whether or not the trauma was caused by her medical condition, or was done by another person,” explained Glenn Giannantonio with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

On Monday, Giannantonio said there were signs of trauma, but it is not clear if it is related to a medical condition.
The Medical Examiner will officially determine the cause of death at a later time, but investigators have called it inconclusive so far.
Notes were seen on West's doorstep on Monday morning from friends and family.
West’s father – who was shaken up by his daughter’s death – told NBC 7 San Diego that West was a beautiful person inside and out. He said he’s missing her already.
Her father said she lived alone inside the IB apartment with her dog.
