A pedestrian narrowly missed being involved in a downtown accident Monday morning, according to one eyewitness.
Two vehicles collided around 8:45 a.m. at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Ash Street. The SUV overturned onto the sidewalk, and the car sustained major front end damage.
Despite the damage, both drivers walked away from the accident unscathed.
Witness Katherine Brecka was standing in line at the social security office when she heard a loud crash.
“I turn and I see the black SUV – the Jeep – flipping in the air up,” Brecka described.
“The glass was flying,” she said.
Brecka says if the accident had happened a few seconds later, a woman walking on the sidewalk could have been hit.

“There was a pedestrian walking toward it with a coffee in her hand,” Brecka said. “She is lucky that she was walking slower than the accident was happening.”
