A homicide investigation has been launched after a 47-year-old woman was found dead inside her Oceanside home on Saturday night, according to Oceanside police.
The woman's body was found as officers were conducting a welfare check at a home in 1400 block of Marquette Street around 11:40 p.m., police said.
The check was requested by a friend of the woman because she had not been heard from for a few days.
Police didn't receive an answer at the door and once they gained entry to the home they discovered the woman with no signs of life and trauma to her body, according to a media release.
Police didn't find any signs of forced entry nor was there any evidence a robbery had occurred, police said.
The woman's identify has yet to be released, though neighbors described the victim as a "sweet lady."
A friend of the victim who spoke with NBC 7's Brandi Powell says she's been left with few anwsers.
