Fashion Show Raises Money For San Diego Non-Profits

The Country Friends' 63rd annual event benefits dozens of agencies

Dozens of San Diego non-profits will benefit from the money raised at the 63rd annual Art of Fashion Runway Show.

All of the proceeds benefit The Country Friends. The organization formed in 1954 to support local human care agencies.

In 2018, it has supported more than 50 agencies, including YWCA of San Diego County, Voices for Children, Serving Seniors, San Diego Rescue Mission, Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, Mama’s Kitchen, Reality Changers, Helen Woodward, Girls Rising and the Burn Institute.

NBC 7 evening anchors Catherine Garcia and Mark Mullen emceed this year’s fashion show and luncheon at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

The fashion show featured the latest looks from the fall and winter collections by designers including Max Mara, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace, Stella McCartney, Escada, Oscar de la Renta, Robert Cavalli and M Missoni.

β€œWe are excited to partner with South Coast Plaza for the 14th straight year on San Diego County's premier fashion event which benefits dozens of local charities," says Deb Cross, President of The Country Friends.

This year, the event was chaired by Sarah Sleeper and Tamara Lafarga-Joseph.  It honored San Diego businesswoman and philanthropist Maggie Bobileff.

In addition to raising money through the Art of Fashion and other events, The Country Friends runs a consignment shop in Rancho Santa Fe.
