Poway sheriff’s deputies are looking for the man who robbed a Sprint store in Poway Tuesday night.
The robbery happened at a shopping center in the 13500 block of Poway Rd.
An official on scene says the robber stole around 30 or 40 Apple iPhones.
According to sheriff’s officials, the suspect threatened two employees with a gun. The workers locked themselves in the bathroom while he ransacked the store.
“They (the employees) are safe. That’s one of our main concerns,” Sergeant Buck Ward said.
Authorities searched a nearby neighborhood using the ASTREA helicopter and a K9 unit, but did not find the suspect.
The robber had a bandana covering his face, so his description is limited. He is about 6-foot tall and wore a black hoodie, according to officials.

Josh Churchill, who works at another business in the plaza, says he was shocked to hear about the armed robbery.
“You’ve got two stores that are open right here. We didn’t hear a thing. No screaming or anything like that,” Churchill said. “We had no idea it had taken place until the officers showed up with their guns.”
Churchill said an incident like this is rare in the area.
“Normally what we get is rowdy teenagers at most,” he said.
Deputies are interviewing the Sprint employees and will review surveillance video.
