The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the four people killed when a truck drove off the Coronado Bridge Saturday, crashing into Chicano Park below.
Cruz Elias Contreras, 52, AnnaMarie Contreras, 50, Andre Christopher Banks, 49, and Francine Denise Jimenez, 46, were attending the La Raza Ride motorcycle festival when they were killed.
Eight people on the ground were injured. One suffered major trauma, and seven others had minor to moderate injuries, said Lee Swanson, a spokesman for the city's Fire-Rescue Department.
Cruz Elias Contreras and AnnaMarie Contreras lived in Chandler, Arizona, while Banks and his girlfriend, Jimenez, traveled from Hacienda Heights, near Los Angeles, for the festival.
Cruz and Contreras were married for more than 35 years and had three daughters and two grandchildren. They spent many years as foster parents in Arizona.
A candlelight vigil was held at the crash site Sunday evening. Jimenez's mother drove to San Diego to attend because she said she needed to see where her daughter had taken her last breath.
The driver, identified as 24-year-old Richard Anthony Sepolio, has been charged with DUI and manslaughter. He is an active duty member of the Navy stationed in Coronado.
Sepolio remains in the hospital with serious injuries.
