San Diego Fire-Rescue officials called for air support when a car fire spread to a hillside Thursday along State Route 52 in Santee.
A vehicle's engine caught fire while the driver was towing a second car on a trailer.
The fire burned a small area along eastbound SR-52 near Mast Boulevard.
SDFD Copter 2 did a few water drops, according to an NBC 7 photojournalist at the scene.
As of 1:35 p.m., the forward rate of spread was stopped, officials said.
A SigAlert was issued for the eastbound SR-52 through 4:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
No other information was available.
