The Brewers Association, the national, nonprofit trade group that represents craft brewers, released its annual list of the top 50 producing craft brewing companies in the U.S. and three San Diego breweries made the list.
Stone Brewing Co. entered the list at No. 9, Karl Strauss Brewing Co. came in at No. 40 and Modern Times Beer took the No. 45 spot.
Other breweries in California that made the list include 21st Amendment Brewery in the Bay Area (No. 26), Gordon Biersch Brewing Co. in San Jose (No. 37), North Coast Brewing Co. in Fort Bragg (No. 46), Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka (No. 47) and Bear Republic Brewing Co. in Cloverdale (No. 49).
D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc., based in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, entered at No. 1.
