Firefighters discovered a body as they extinguished a burning car in unincorporated Escondido Wednesday night, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The car fire was reported just before 9 p.m. at Harmony Grove Road and Country Club Drive.
As the flames died down, crews found the body, which has not been identified. It's unclear if it belongs to a man or woman or how the person died.
Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death.
