A dead body was found Saturday morning floating near the west side of the Ocean Beach Pier, lifeguards confirmed.
According to lifeguard Lt. Nick Lerma, a citizen spotted a naked body floating in the water around 9:10 a.m. and alerted authorities.
When lifeguards got to the scene, they determined the lifeless body was in rigor mortis, Lerma said.
The body was transported by boat to lifeguard headquarters. Police were called to investigate and the coroner was requested.
A medical examiner's report released Saturday afternoon stated that the victim is a white male between 20 and 35 years old.
The victim was later identified by the medical examiner as 34-year-old Pacific Beach resident Lawrence Kenneth Booth.
At this time, police do not consider the death suspicious. They are checking for clues in surrounding areas that may help determine how the victim got into the water and why he died. Booth's official cause of death has yet to be released.
