Border Patrol agents apprehending a group of individuals that had crossed the border illegally came across a body in a rural area east of Otay Lakes.
The discovery was made around 8:41 a.m. Monday morning.
The agents made the discovery after the group they had apprehended told them they had just passed by a body. When agents went back to the location described by the group, they found the body of a man.
The San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) took over the investigation. They say for now, it appears that no foul play was involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
