A DUI checkpoint and patrol by San Diego police resulted in 16 arrests Saturday night, according to officials.
Of the 404 cars that passed through the checkpoint, 13 motorists were detained for further evaluation of their sobriety in the 2100 block of El Cajon Blvd. Seven arrests were made, said officials.
Officers conducted a DUI patrol in North Park and Hillcrest after the checkpoint, at which point eight additional drives were arrested for driving under the influence.
In all, 15 vehicles were impounded during the operation, and two drivers were cited for driving with a suspended driver's license, according to a media release.
